146 CHAPTER 5 CHRONIC TTH ANALYSIS BY EMG AND GSR BIOFEEDBACK
5.10 FUTURE SCOPE, LIMITATIONS, AND POSSIBLE APPLICATIONS
This was an endeavor of a student studying the effect of BF therapies on TTH type stress management
and creative problem solving. Due to these limitations, this study was conducted in the university pre-
mises with a small sample size. Similar studies can be done in different parts of the country on larger
samples for better scope of generalization. For further research, it should kept in mind that environment
also plays a vital role in increases and decreases in mental health so the study should also include dif-
ferent age groups, gender differences, socio economic status, parent education, and academic environ-
ment. This research was done in a very short time period. For future studies:
– Study the physiological, psychological, and therapeutic effect of positive thinking and mindful
meditation.
– Control group and long duration study suggested.
– Study the effect on exclusion and inclusion criteria.
– Effect of this practice can be studied on other dependent variables, i.e., blood pressure, heart rate,
hemoglobin, ESR, total lymphocyte count, differential leucocytes count, sugar level, lipid profile,
and different lung functions.
– Study the effect of meditation at the microscopic level.
– Study its effect not only on mental and physical states but at the consciousness level too.
– The research should be conducted on a larger sample.
– Another tool of measurement may be used to measure the variables.
5.11 CONCLUSION
This study concluded that the effect of EMG BF therapy on audio mode is better than GSR therapy
on the same mode based on intensity, duration, and frequency parameters for chronic type TTH in
stress management and improving mental health. We also know that the subjects who underwent
this EMG therapy also performed well in their work with a cool and steady state of mind and other
students who did not undergo treatment (control group) had no difference in their work. And we
know that, stress/TTH is a physical response to a situation. Some level of stress is essential for a
response but a continuous and high level of stress is harmful and manifests as physical and mental
problems. A person’s response toward stress depends on whether an event is appraised as a chal-
lenge or a threat. So it plays an important role in our lives. Subjects developed a good coping
capacity to manage stress and also performed their work very well, i.e., had a good problem-
solving capacity. This higher level of intelligence is the best indicator with characteristics such
as intelligence level being a significant predictor for subjects’ performance at work/home besides
the other school factors, peer factors, and family factors. Higher intelligence levels lead to higher
performance of subjects in work, and low intelligence levels lead to lower performance. The low
intelligence level has a negative effect on the efficiency and performance of subjects because the
mental capacities to learn and understand the things and logical power they need is lacking and
hence they do not perform better.
