Your first decision point offers an either-or choice. You need
to decide which part of the Behavior Cycle you want to occu-
py. Would you prefer to be the person who initiates action,
or the one who plays the reaction role?
Act or react—what difference does it make anyhow?
Well, it could make all the difference in how the situation
unfolds. Whoever seizes the initiative gains a degree of
social advantage. Make the opening move, and you create
