It is likely that global waste generation will double by the year 2025 to
over 60 lakhs tons of scrap per day and the rates are not likely to increase by
the end of this century. While countries under Organization for Cooperation
Development (OECD) will reach its “peak waste” by 2050, and East Asian
and Pacific countries will reach its “peak waste” by 2075, the wastes will
continue to grow in Sub-Saharan African nations [3].
