Excel has a variety of operators to define your
filter. The following table gives their functions:
OPERATOR DESCRIPTION
equals Searches for data that matches the specified value.
does not equal Searches for data that does not match the specified value.
is greater than Searches for data that is larger than the specified value.
is greater than or equal to Searches for data that matches or is larger than the specified
value.
is less than Searches for data that is less than the specified value.
is less than or equal to Searches for data that matches or is smaller than the specified
value.
begins with Searches for data that starts with the specified string, such as A.
does not begin with Searches for data that does not start with the specified string.
ends with Searches for data that ends with the specified string.
does not end with Searches for data that does not end with the specified string.
contains Searches for data that contains the specified string. For
example, West and East both contain the string st.
does not contain Searches for data that does not contain the specified string.
