The main implementation ‘tools’ for the model coil program were the In-
ternational Test Facility (ITF) and the CSMC at the Japan Atomic Energy Re-
search Institute (Fig. 5.19).
The ITF construction in 1999 and the successful testing of the CSMC and
the CS Insert were a breakthrough in the field of applied superconductivity
