The triboelectric charge during pharmaceutical processing can lead to particle surface
                   1
adhesion. The adhesion and electrostatic charge of the active pharmaceutical ingredients
were significantly reduced when methylcellulose and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose
                           1
were incorporated. The triboelectric charging showed a linear relationship with the parti-

            cle surface adhesion.
The adhesion enhancer is a substance which is suitable for fixing pharmaceutical
                                                       2
active component in a compacted or compressed form. Addition of the adhesion enhancer
usually leads to an increase in the interparticle surfaces at which bonds can form (e.g., dur-
                                      2
ing the compression procedure). The adhesion enhancers are characterized by increasing
the plasticity of the tableting mixture, resulting in solid tablets being produced by the com-

pression. The adhesion enhancer comprises solid, non-polymeric compounds which pref-
                                     2
erably have polar side groups. Examples of these are sugar alcohols or disaccharides. 2
The adhesion enhancer used in this application is a polymer having a glass transition tem-

perature in the range of 50 to 100°C.
