200 Selection of Adhesion Promoters for Different
9.18 INKS
Numerous additives are produced by manufacturers of adhesion promoters for use in inks,
including Bomar BR-742S, Chartwell B-515.71W, Eastman CP (9 different grades), Jay-
link JL-103M, Lupasol SC 61 B, Sarbox SB400 & SR9054, Tyzor (6 different additives),
Uniplex 260. They contain the following active compounds: acrylamidomethyl substituted
cellulose ester polymer, acrylates, aminosilane, chlorinated polyolefins, esters, ionomers,
oligomers, and titanates.
Alkoxysilane was used as the adhesion promoter for silver nano-ink for the develop-
1
1
ment of electronic flexible devices. Excellent adhesion to PET and glass resulted.
Ink-jet printed conductive copper patterns with enhanced substrate adhesion were
2
fabricated using a silane coupling agent. The highest adhesion was obtained with the
2
addition of 3 wt% 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane. The presence of silane also improved
2
conductivity.
The heat-transfer textile ink contains adhesion promoter comprising methacryloxy-
propyltrimethoxysilane, glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane, and zirconium acetylaceto-
3
nate.
