Two recent developments in gas-turbine plants promise much for the
future. The first of these developments is the single-shaft combined-cycle gas
and steam turbine, Fig. 16. In this cycle, the gas turbine exhausts into a heat-
recovery steam generator (HRSG) that supplies steam to the turbine.
