Figure 8.12a shows the extracted power and the beam quality as a
function of master oscillator power produced by DAPKL. This, too,
was the brightest solid-state laser at the time. Figure 8.12b shows the
near-field and far-field intensity distributions of the output beam.
The near field shows the bond lines of the largest amplifier slab.
