Recommend the most cost-effective methods and frequencies of machinery condi-
tion monitoring.
Perform any other investigations, as determined during the audit, aimed at uncover-
ing existing or potential impediments to achieving reliable equipment performance.
Methods and Scope*
Methods, scope, and typical details of a thorough machinery reliability audit
involve looking closely at the various hardware systems, work processes, proce-
dures, and organizational lineups in place at a given facility. To allow efficient trans-
fer of machinery technology, plant management should designate one of their engi-
neers to work with the audit team.
At well-managed, modern plants, the emphasis should be on identifying practices
and procedures that could have an adverse future impact on short- and long-term
