3.23 Further reading
A standard reference to continuum mechanics is Aris (1962). Haug and Langtangen (1997)
gives a short review of the basics in continuum mechanics. One of many good text books
in this field is Mase (1970) in Schaum’s outline series. Another is the classic work of
Fung (1965). Jaeger et al. (2007) gives a comprehensive treatment of stress and strain in
geomechanics.
