5. Tangent and Back-up Ring Set
This design consists of a Teflon tangential cut seal ring with a
metallic radial-cut back-up ring (see Figure 3-42). It is ideal for nar-
rower ring grooves, and it is used for higher pressure applications.

TR The TR is a sealing ring designed to be
made of relatively conformable material.
The tangent-cut ring is made of plastic while
the radial-cut ring, which serves as an anii-
extrusion ring, is of metal or rigid plastic.
Radial notches insure the ring seals in one
direction only.
TU This ring is like the "TR". but the anti-
extrusion ring is uncut. PRESSURE SIDE
