SELL YOURSELF IN ANY INTERVIEW
“I know how to express goals and expectations
clearly and how to communicate those expectations
to my staff [Feature: Skill, good communicator]. I have
learned that once people know exactly what is
expected, they accept the challenges and work hard
to meet them [Benefit: Giving the staff the encourage-
ment and information they need to succeed]. In addi-
tion, I have developed the habit of conducting brief,
but regular, team meetings to keep everyone in the
loop and working together toward the same goal
[Feature: Skill, developed team-building procedures]. I
found that these meetings kept everyone on track
and motivated [obvious benefit].”
Question: “Why do you want this job?”
Answer: “When I first heard about this job, I was very inter-
ested, and I felt that I would be a perfect fit. I have
extensive financial experience, earning my company
favorable return on investment and ensuring mea-
surable growth while maintaining proper financial
controls [features]. I look forward to bringing my
thorough knowledge of capital investments, as well
as strong sense of ethical responsibility, to a larger,
more diversified environment and applying those
skills to help improve your bottom line [benefit].”
Question: “What are your hobbies?”
Answer: “I have played tennis since I was a kid and compete
regularly in local and statewide tournaments [fea-
tures]. Tennis keeps me in shape, both mentally and
physically. I usually play early in the morning
because it takes only an hour or two, and it helps me
work out all my tension. I feel calm and refreshed and
carry this with me throughout my workday [benefit].”
