irst, I’d like to thank Illinois State Senator Susan Garrett,
Fwho, after sponsoring and attending one of my seminars
for job seekers, “strongly suggested” that I write a book on
the subjects I discussed at the seminar, and she continued
urging me until I did it. Obviously, this book would not be
available today were it not for her; Susan, I sincerely thank
you for all you did.
I owe a special thank you to Susan Bearman, whose
expertise, intelligence, judgment, and writing skills were
extremely important to the book-writing effort.
I also would like to thank my agent, Ruth Mills, who has
a formidable array of personal assets that were of exceptional
help, not to mention her wonderful patience with me.
Thanks also to Dr. Robert Brawer, who gave me consid-
erable confidence and insight in writing this book. I am also
very grateful to him because he introduced me to Ruth Mills.
Derek Ragona, my computer guru, and more, was invalu-

involved with making this book a reality.
One of the best critics anyone could have on a book-
writing project is Edgar Rose. He gave much of his valuable

benefit many job seekers.
And none of the preceding would have happened if my
wife Norma was not involved. She was an editor, contributor,
and proofreader. Above all, she had the fortitude, desire,
and patience to put up with all my moods, idiosyncrasies,
