■ A major event with undesirable environmental consequences (such as a major spill)
To be truly effective, an organizational culture of waste minimization must be fos-
tered within the organization. Executive management must ensure this through repeated
communications and acknowledgements for success stories from individuals or busi-
ness units. This will make waste minimization an integral part of the organization’s
operations.
