The prerequisites and credits in the Indoor Environmental Quality category can be
grouped into the following two overall sets of goals:
                  • The two prerequisites and the first five credit subcategories promote good
indoor air quality (IAQ). IEQp1, IEQc1, and IEQc2 are all related to indoor air
exchange with outside air, a corrective measure for potentially poor indoor
quality. IEQp1 sets a minimum air exchange rate. IEQc1 gives alternatives for
providing adequate air exchanges by monitoring air flow rates and by utilizing
carbon dioxide concentrations as the marker compound. IEQc2 promotes an air
exchange rate that is higher than the minimum established in IEQp1. On the
                    other hand, IEQp2, IEQc3.1, IEQc3.2, IEQc4.1, IEQc4.2, IEQc4.3, IEQc4.4, and IEQc5
all represent measures for preventing potential air pollutants from entering into
                    the indoor airspaces.
                  • The last three credit subcategories promote the well-being and comfort of the
occupants with respect to thermal comfort, lighting, and views. IEQc7.1, IEQc7.2,
and IEQc6.2 are all related to thermal comfort, with IEQc7.1 related to design,
IEQc7.2 related to verification of performance, and IEQc6.2 giving preferred
thermal comfort control flexibility to individual or groups of occupants. IEQc6.1
and IEQc8.1 pertain to lighting. IEQc6.1 gives preferred lighting control flexibility
to individual or group occupants, and IEQc8.1 addresses increasing natural
lighting (daylighting) to supplement the other indoor lighting. IEQc8.2 addresses
a minimum amount of views for occupants.

The two prerequisites and the 15 credits in the Indoor Environmental Quality category
for both versions 2.2 and 2009 are as follows:

                  • IEQ Prerequisite 1 (IEQp1): Minimum IAQ Performance
                  • IEQ Prerequisite 2 (IEQp2): Environmental Tobacco Smoke Control
                  • IEQ Credit 1 (IEQc1): Outdoor Air Delivery Monitoring (previously referred to as
Carbon Dioxide (CO ) Monitoring in LEED-NC 2.1) (EB)
                                    2
                  • IEQ Credit 2 (IEQc2): Increased Ventilation (previously referred to as Ventilation
                    Effectiveness in LEED-NC 2.1)
