Pump bearings

             7.1 Pump bearings

The principle function of beatings in centrifugal pumps is to keep the
rotating elements in position and in correct alignment with the
stationary parts of the pump, while being subjected to radial and thrust
loads. The bearings should also permit the shaft to rotate with the least
amount of friction to maximize the pump operating efficiency. In
addition, they arc selected to absorb all the radial and axial loads that
are transmitted through the shaft during the different operating modes.
