               involved,  the  major  loads  are  a  result  of the  hydraulic  forces  acting  in
               the pump  casing at the impeller.
               The  axial  thrust  created  in  a  horizontal  end  suction  process  pump  is
               predominantly  from  the  hydraulic  forces  acting  on  the  front  and  back
               of  the  impeller.  The  magnitude  and  direction  of  the  resultant  axial
               thrust will depend on the impeller design and flow conditions.
               In  most  instances  the  resultant  axial  thrust  will  be  towards  the  pump
               suction  and  is  a result  of the  pressure  on  the  back  shroud  overcoming
