Palm III
In 1998, the Palm III was released. This model became one of the most popular
and longest-lived PDAs of all time. One reason for its popularity is that Palm
released four variations on the same basic platform—including the first Palm
with a color screen. (See Figure 1-4 for a look at the color Palm.) The Palm’s in-
frared port also made exchanging data between devices very easy. While no
longer sold, there are millions of Palm III models still in routine use. That
makes this model one of the easiest to find on the used market.
