                     Handspring
                     Visor looks
                     much like a
                     Palm III, but
                     features the
                     Springboard
                     expansion
                     slot in back.

                                 The Robot Geek Says

                                 The Visor and the PPRK

✖ If you are planning to use a Visor with the PPRK, we strongly
recommend you get the BrainStem model from Acroname
                                      (www.acroname.com).
✖ You can use the Visor with the original PPRK, but it involves a lot
more effort and requires you to modify the controller circuit board.
✖ Using a Visor with the original PPRK is definitely not a project for
                                      the casual hobbyist.

                     The Other Guys: Pocket PC

Those of you readers who are Palm fanatics should probably move on to the
next section right now. That’s right… move along… nothing to see here.
Okay, for those of you who are left, we would be remiss if we didn’t mention
the other major class of handhelds—Pocket PCs. Let’s be clear: the PPRK kits
and this book only cover making a robot with a Palm OS PDA, or running
stand-alone without any PDA. However, there’s no technical reason you could-
n’t use a Pocket PC device—running Microsoft’s Pocket PC operating sys-
tem—instead. As we’ll see later, Acroname, the company that sells the PPRK,
provides lots of software and tools for using a Pocket PC with the PPRK.
