When the inspectors review the project, they have the authority to stop a project and
issue violations. Obviously if these conditions occur then the project schedule could
be in jeopardy. Again, it behooves the PM to be familiar with all aspects of the proj-
ect. The PM should walk with the inspectors when they come to the job site so that a
good understanding of noncompliance issues can be reviewed. In addition, the
approved Building Department drawings should be readily available at the job site
along with the approved permits. It may be that a misunderstanding has occurred and
a valid explanation is all that is required. This can put a stop to many frivolous prob-
lems. Major problems uncovered by the building inspector will have to be addressed
expeditiously. Every effort has to be made to convince inspectors that any problems
