Martin could have written Sarah only one e-mail (saving them
both a great deal of time) saying the following:
Hi Sarah,
I would be happy to drive to the party with you. That day,
I will be getting off work about 5:00 p.m., which might make
us fashionably late. My preference is to pick you up, and I
hope this is okay with you. Why don’t you e-mail me your
address?
See you soon,
Martin
Enneagram Style Sixes
Create Genuine Relationships
Above all, Sixes like relationships in which they
feel they can count on and trust the other person.
Insightful and sociable, Sixes create genuine rela-
tionships with groups as well as with individuals,
feeling more certain and supported when there is a group behind
them. However, when Sixes feel wary or distrustful of someone,
they may question that person’s motives and assume that their neg-
ative assessment of the other person’s character or behavior is well
founded. Thus, Sixes can end up with a bad relationship or, at best,
an ambivalent one.
Communicate Clearly
Sixes like to develop relationships and communicate in a recipro-
cal way, with talking and listening being given equal importance.
