        The Seven Competency Components
        of Make Optimal Decisions


        Component 1: Understanding the Organizational Culture
        This involves meeting organizational expectations about how deci-
        sions are made (e.g., are they collaborative, consultative, or author-
        itative); explaining honestly how and why decisions are made
        (within the boundaries of how much open disclosure is allowed
        within the organization); understanding organizational politics,
        such as who must be consulted before, after, and during the deci-
        sion-making process; and being able to sell decisions to key indi-
        viduals and groups within the organization.
