PAY ATTENTION TO PEOPLE Pay as much attention to people’s feel-
ings and motivation as you do to tasks, particularly at the begin-
ning of a project, at key milestones, and when potential obstacles
to the project’s success arise. Ask others about their well-being,
and see what you can do to help them. Try to enjoy the people as
much as you do the task.
FOCUS MORE ON SUCCESSES THAN ON MISTAKES Pay particular
attention to your use of right/wrong thinking, critical language, and
a focus on mistakes when you’re interacting with people con-
nected to your project. The idea is to force yourself to think first
about what is positive rather than about what is missing the mark.
In addition, when you send an e-mail to someone about anything
other than a direct compliment, reread it several times and even
have someone else (with a different Enneagram style) review it for
tone and content before you send it.
Enneagram Style Twos
Enneagram Style Two leaders are usually skilled at
helping every employee stay focused and aligned at
the place where the organizational, team, and indi-
vidual goals intersect. Insightful and intuitive,
Enneagram Twos tend to be accurate assessors of
an individual’s strengths and development areas, and they are
adept at helping others find the right fit for their skills and talents.
Because they are conscientious and careful, Twos also work very
hard, organizing work and people so that projects can succeed,
with quality deliverables provided on schedule.
Since they are sensitive to customer requirements and requests,
Twos typically respond to customers quickly, listen carefully to
their requests, and make adjustments if they can. As leaders, Twos
are also gifted at helping everyone involved focus their work on
service to others.
