The Core of Resilience
Leadership is not what we do, but rather who we are.
The foundation of who we are is our authentic self-
expression of our values—what we stand for and how we
measure up to others. It’s the basis of the conversations that
people have about us when we leave the room.
It’s a given that you need to have both substance and
business acumen to lead in today’s business environment;
however, what keeps leaders centered, focused, and able to
make tough decisions is their authenticity. Put simply,
authenticity is acting in alignment with your values and core
beliefs. Your values are those things that you believe repre-
sent right and wrong as well as what you believe defines
