        I can’t say that Hillary’s true self, particularly her emotional
        side, showed up in the earlier days of her career; however,
        from the 1960s through the early 1990s, women often had
        to adopt the more decisive, directive, and confrontational
        style known as a male style of leadership if they were to be
        taken seriously. Perhaps that explains why Hillary was
        known for her hard veneer, strong will, calculated action,
        and great perseverance rather than for her warm personality.
           One of the most public expressions of Hillary’s true self
        was when she spoke at a campaign rally in New Hampshire
        in 2008. While she was answering questions from the audi-
        ence, she had a personal moment where she shed a few
        tears—to everyone’s surprise. No one, with the exception
        of Hillary’s close friends and family, had really seen
        Hillary’s deeper sense of emotions and expressions from
        the heart come out. What the general population saw was
        her standing behind a podium speaking to larger crowds,
        or under the lights on TV and being drilled by the media.
        This expression of her true self is partially being driven,
        strong-willed, and focused on what she is working toward,
        but she is also someone who has a human side, which is
        expressed by her heartfelt emotions and her capacity to be
