         soluble in water than oxygen. The effect  of temperature  on ozone solubility is shown in
         Figure 10.18.
           As illustrated in Figure 10.19, once ozone enters solution, it follows two basic modes
         of reaction:  direct oxidation, which is rather  slow  and extremely selective,  and autode-
         composition to the hydroxyl radical.  Autodecomposition to the hydroxyl radical  is cat-
         alyzed by  the  presence of hydroxyl radicals,  organic radicals,  hydrogen peroxide,  UV
         light, or high concentrations of hydroxide ion. The hydroxyl radical  is extremely fast and
