3.2 QUALITATIVE EVALUATION
The important works in this phase include:
l preparation of the architectural drawings;
l preparation of the structural sketches;
l field sampling and data collection of structural members in order to deter-
mine the quality of concrete and the type of reinforcing bars in the general
scale;
l performing a general structural analysis; and
l determination of the performance objective; based on Table 3.1, the building
is categorized as “important” and consequently, the “enhanced” performance
objective is selected for retrofit. Based on this performance objective, the
