results, it can be concluded that the vulnerability of the building is more critical
in the first scenario than that in the second one.
Considering the performance superiority of the monolithic building com-
pared that of the building with two independent, isolated parts, the general rec-
ommendations are as follows:

– reduction of the CoM-CoR eccentricity of all the stories in both directions to
up to 20% of the external dimension of the building plan;
– elimination of the pounding of the two building parts; and
– minimum reduction of 10% in mean values of the structural members’ DCR.
