158 Building a High Morale Workplace
ments—including the chairman’s office! Talk about building high
employee morale!
Johnson & Johnson: Committed to providing a better tomorrow
for its employees’ children, the widely respected healthcare
company operates six centers that care for 1,400 children of
Johnson & Johnson employees.
Pfizer: The popular pharmaceutical company knows that one
way to employees’ hearts is through their stomachs. The com-
pany provides a subsidized cafeteria for all workers, which also
allows them to order a take-home dinner for the family and
have it delivered to their offices by the end of the day.
Harley-Davidson: Employees who fantasize about riding their
own “hog” on the open road can make the dream a reality with
the company’s “Easy Own” program that assists employees in
getting their own Harley in no time. Here’s how the three-year
special financing package works. Year one, employees pay
zero—that’s right, no interest, no payments. Year two, employ-
ees make payments only on the principal owed, but pay no
interest. Year three, employees start making regular payments
and can extend financing if necessary. Born to be wild? Yep!
Born to be generous too.
Texas Instruments: Employees who need a college degree to
broaden their horizons just ask their manager and TI will pay for
tuition, fees, and books.
Start thinking about new ways you too can positively affect
the environment and the morale of your employees by coming
up with your own unique approaches for showing your commit-
ment to a brighter future for everyone.
