             surface issues. Just as the body is covered with skin,

             performance. In other words, the skin represents the
             numbers. Sustainable, culture-driven organizations go

               Connected team members understand the organi-
             zation’s vision and mission. Because of that, they rec-
             ognize the unique importance of their own specific
             role. In the supermarket business, we have thousands
             of opportunities each day to make a difference for

             guests. For example, each day we make birthday cakes
             for guests and their loved ones. When cake decorators
             fill an order, they realize it is more than just another

             cake request—it is an opportunity to breathe life into
             a significant moment in someone’s life. Virtually any
             grocery store will make a cake; I like to think no one
             does it with United’s attention to detail. Its decorators
