           MEASURE YOUR SUCCESS

           Teams and individuals often lose sight of how radically they have changed
           their behavior unless they measure their progress and record their break-
           throughs. The assessment in the sidebar “Are We Playing Big?” can be
           used by individuals or teams to reinforce the new leadership context of
           100% accountability and committed partnerships. Monitor the results so



             Are We Playing Big?
             Directions: Use the following scale to rate yourself or the team:
             1. Seldom if at all        4. Often
             2. Occasionally            5. Consistently
             3. Sometimes

             100% Accountability
             • I take 100% accountability for business results and my impact
               on others.
             • I do not use excuses or reasons to justify the lack of results.
             • When there is a breakdown, I take accountability and do not
               blame others.
             • I own my blind spots and do not justify or defend them.
             • I actively seek coaching and apply it.
             • I take a bold stand and decisive action.
             • I do not engage in conspiracies against individuals or groups.
             • I respect cultural differences and build understanding and
               partnership across cultural lines.
             Committed Partnerships
             • I stand for the success of others both privately and publicly.
             • I honor and fulfill commitments.
             • I talk straight responsibly.
             • I align emotionally and intellectually as if I authored the
               decision myself; I suspend my personal agenda and support
               the enterprise mission.
             • I consistently hold myself and others accountable for playing
               big at all times.
