1926.100. This section deals with the requirements of head protection.
1926.101. Provisions of hearing protection are given.
1926.102. Provisions of eye and face protection of employees when faced with potential
eye or face injury from physical, chemical, or radiation agents are provided.
1926.103. Requirements of respiratory protection are given.
1926.104. This section deals with safety belts, lifelines, and lanyards. The requirements
of minimum breaking strength of lifeline, lanyards, and minimum tensile loading of safety
belts and lanyard hardware are provided.
1926.105. Safety net requirements are given.
1926.106. Requirements for employees working over or near water are provided.
Subpart F: Fire Protection and Prevention
This subpart deals with fire protection and fire prevention.
1926.150. The employer’s responsibility for development of a fire protection program to
be followed through all phases of work has been detailed. Water supply, portable and fixed
firefighting equipment, fire alarm devices, and fire cutoff requirements are provided.
1926.151. This section deals with the means to prevent fire. It lays down requirements to
deal with ignition hazards. It provides the criteria for the storage of combustible materials
in open and indoor storage.
1926.152. This section deals with flammable and combustible liquids. It lays down
requirements for the storage of flammable liquids in approved containers while storing
them indoors and outdoors. It also provides provisions for fire control for flammable or
combustible liquid storage and handling liquids at the point of final use. Further, it has
detailed requirements of design and fabrication of storage tanks, atmospheric tanks, low-
pressure tanks, pressure vessels, etc. There are provisions for installation of above ground
tanks, normal venting, emergency relief venting, etc.
1926.153. This section deals with liquefied petroleum gas (LP-Gas). Requirements are
detailed for approval of equipment and systems, safety devices, etc.
Subpart G: Signs, Signals, and Barricades
1926.200. Requirements of signs and symbols are given. Specific requirements in regard
to danger signs, caution signs, exit signs, safety instruction signs, directional signs, traffic
signs, accident prevention tags, etc., are provided.
1926.201. Requirements of flagman are provided in the event that signs, signals, and bar-
ricades do not provide necessary protection.
Subpart H: Materials Handling, Storage, Use, and Disposal
1926.250. This section deals with materials storage and housekeeping and provides
detailed provisions for all aspects of materials storage.
