1926.251. Requirements for rigging equipments are given. It deals with safe working loads,
special custom-design riggings, inspections, alloy steel chains, hooks, links, wire ropes, slings,
etc. Tables of rated capacities of slings, links, manila rope slings, nylon rope slings, polyester
rope slings, and polypropylene slings and safe working loads for shackles are given.
1926.252. Requirements for disposing of waste materials are provided.
Subpart I: Tools—Hand and Power
This subpart deals with the requirements of all hand and power tools and similar equipment.
1926.300. Safety requirements of tools, guarding, types of guarding, exposure of blades,
anchoring of fixed machinery, guarding of abrasive wheel machinery, bench and floor
stands, cylindrical girders, personal protective equipment, and switches are provided.
1926.301. Safety requirements of hand tools are given.
1926.302. Safety requirements of electric power-operated, pneumatic power, hydraulic
power, and power-actuated tools are provided.
1926.303. Safety requirements of abrasive wheels and tools are given. Safety guards of
grinding machines, guard design, and use of abrasive wheels are discussed.
1926.304. Safety requirements of woodworking tools are given. Disconnect switches,
speeds, self-feed, guarding, personal protective equipment, radial saws, hand-fed cross-cut
table saw, hand-fed rip saws, etc., are covered.
1926.305. Operation and maintenance, blocking, and general requirements of lever,
ratchet, screw, and hydraulic jacks are covered.
1926.307. This section covers most of the types and shapes of power transmission belts.
Subpart J: Welding and Cutting
This subpart deals with the safety requirements of welding and cutting.
1926.350. This section lists the safety requirements of gas welding and cutting. Provision
for transporting, moving, and storing compressed-gas cylinders; treatment of cylinders; use
of fuel gas and oxygen manifolds, hoses, torches, regulators, and gauges; and oil and grease
hazards are given.
1926.351. This section lists the requirements of arc welding and cutting. Provisions of
manual electrode holders, welding cables and connectors, ground returns and machine
grounding, operating instructions, and shielding are provided.
1926.352. This section deals with fire prevention during welding and cutting.
1926.353. This section deals with ventilation and protection in welding, cutting, and heat-
ing. Provisions with regard to mechanical ventilation, welding, cutting and heating in con-
fined spaces, lifelines, welding, cutting or heating of metals of toxic significance, inert-gas
metal-arc welding and general welding, cutting, and heating are covered.
1926.354. This section deals with welding, cutting, and heating on any surface covered
by preservative coatings.
