American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG: http://www.aapg.org/) and nternational
Association of Drilling Contractors (http://www.iadc.org/)
These trade organization have numerous links to drilling technology and issues. They can
be useful sources of industry-focused information and data.
American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG: http://www.aipg.org/)
A trade organization that covers all aspects of professional activity in the Earth Sciences,
including topics related to geothermal energy and drilling . A good source of information
of professional standards, methods, and techniques.
Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT: http://geoheat.oit.edu/)
OIT has numerous publications available on line relating to issues associated with drilling
technology and standards.
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA: http://www.epa.gov)
The U.S. EPA has responsibility to regulate effluents and other environmental aspects
associated with drilling processes. They provide review and oversight of certain aspects of
drilling and their website is useful for obtaining information about certain relevant regula-
tions and issues. Not all of these relate directly to geothermal energy use or development,
but the information provides insight into the issues involved.
