2. The manufacturers have considered the special-purpose MC as one
of the strategic products, because this MC is not “on the shelf” for the
Japanese manufacturer.
It is furthermore interesting that the time series–like analysis of MCs
made in a nation may imply the changing trends of technology innova-
tion, market strategy, technology inheritance, and so on. For example,
Table 4-1 shows the trends of Japanese make MCs in 1993, and by
comparing it with Fig. 4-1 we find the following:
1. In general, the same trend as that of 1983 can be observed, i.e., the
continued production of both the vertical MC of XY/ZC type and the
horizontal MC of BX/ZYC type. It can be deduced that the increase
in the sales volume of the vertical MC is attributed to the continu-
ous growth of the molding die sector of Japanese industry.
