P. 9
Acknowledgments
We are thankful to Peter Tomolonis for reading an early draft
of the first edition of this book and for making suggestions that
strengthened it. Peter worked in management positions in the
human resources and aviation departments of the Port Authority of
New York and New Jersey for almost three decades before retiring.
He has directly motivated or developed programs and/or systems to
assist others in motivating and rewarding thousands of employees.
Finally, we acknowledge our editor, Brian Foster, who is a model
of motivation, for his assistance and enthusiasm throughout this proj-
ect, Grace Freedson, our agent, for introducing us to McGraw-Hill and
for her continuing energetic efforts on our behalf, and Charles Fisher,
our editor for this second edition, who has given us the opportunity
to share new ideas for motivating and rewarding employees.
