6. Read the synchroscope. If the machine frequency is less than the busbar
frequency, the indicator has a “slow” reading, and if the frequency of
machine is higher than the busbar frequency, then the machine is giving
a “fast” reading.
7. If the synchroscope reading is slow, increase the speed of the machine
(synchronous generator) until the pointer is in the middle.
8. When the pointer of synchroscope is in the middle, close the generator
CB (zero angle) or at an angle less than 5 degrees in the “fast” direction.
4.7 INSTALLATION AND COMMISSIONING OF
SYNCHRONOUS GENERATORS
When the generator arrives on site the following steps should be undertaken:
1. Acceptance and storage at site in a correct manner.
2. The foundation and civil engineering work to be completed as per
approved detailed design by the utility engineers.
3. Alignment of turbine and generator shafts to be carried out as per the
appropriate international standards.
