Now that we have our LCD display ready, the next part involves connecting it to the
Photon board, which can be a little bit difficult and maybe even confusing. All the
standard LCD displays have the same pin-out functions and can be wired in two different
modes: four-pin and eight-pin mode. For this example we can simply wire up the LCD
display in four-pin mode, which will give us enough options to complete our project and
allow communication between the display and the Photon board. There are also pins for
enabling the display, setting the display to command mode or character mode, and for
setting the read/write function. Table 4.3 shows each of the pins and their functions.
