process computers for trending of values and machinery problem diagno-
sis. Portable analysis equipment can be connected to the buffered output
terminals on the monitor front panel for machine analysis.
ROD POSITION MONITORING
This monitor enables the user to detect when the rider ring bands have
worn away enough to require shutdown before the piston contacts the
cylinder. A proximity probe is mounted vertically next to the cylinder to
observe the piston rod position. The new monitor provides two modes of
operation: average and instantaneous rod position. The instantaneous
position measurement uses a Keyphasor® transducer to provide a once-
per-turn crankshaft revolution reference signal for sampling the rod drop
probe. This improves accuracy and minimizes problems caused by
chrome plating or scratches on the surface of the rod.
