The Robot Geek Says
A Cheap Connection Tester (Based on Evan Johnson’s
Sixth Grade Science Project)
If you don’t have an ohmmeter, you can easily create a simple
continuity checker to determine which wire is connected to which
connector pin. Try this:
✖ Create a simple electric circuit with probes or clips that can be attached
to each end of a conductor. The circuit consists of a simple serial connection
between batteries and a light bulb with some break in the circuit. Each end
of the break is a “probe” that can be used to check for circuit continuity.
✖ By touching one probe to a connector pin, each wire can be tested for
conductivity. When the two probes touch the correct pin and wire, the
electric circuit is completed and the light bulb will light.
