✖ You can also damage your SV203, making it unusable.
✖ We cannot be responsible for damage you cause to the controller,
to other components, or to the universe, as a result of attempting
this modification.
✖ Really, if you have a Visor, consider using the BrainStem kit.
Parts List
Pressing on? Here’s what you’ll need:
❏ Visor hot sync serial cable, or Visor hot sync connector
kit (www.atlconnect.com/thirdparty/handspring/pricing/
connectors.htm, part #500835, and three-wire cable)
❏ DB9 male connector (www.mouser.com or Radio Shack,
or other electronic supplier)
❏ Ohmmeter or other circuit checking device (Radio Shack
or other electronic supplier)
❏ Pontech SV203 controller (www.pontech.com, or
www.acroname.com)
❏ Soldering iron or sonic screwdriver
❏ Solder wick or other solder removal tool (Radio Shack
or other electronic supplier)
If you have a Visor serial cable with a DB9 female connector, skip ahead to
the section “Connecting the Cable to a DB9 Male Connector.” If you are building
your own cable, start with the next section, “Building a Cable.”
Building a Cable
If you are using the Visor hot sync connector kit to create the cable, follow the
directions in the previous section for soldering the connector and the cable
and putting the connector together (but not the part about inserting the
crimps into the Molex connector). In a nutshell, those steps go like this:
1. Position the connector on the circuit board and solder pins 1, 4, and 8.
2. Solder the three wires in the cable to the circuit board—the red wire
to connector 4, the middle wire to connector 1, and the remaining
wire to connector 8.
3. Slide the buttons over the metal clips.
