78 The Ultimate Palm Robot

other end is not stripped, separate a short section of the strands and use a wire
stripper to strip a short (1/8 inch or less) section of each wire.

The wire on one side of the cable will have a red stripe painted on it. Solder
this wire to circuit board connector 4. Solder the wire on the other side of the
cable to the circuit board connector 8. Finally, take the middle wire and solder
it to the circuit board connector 1. If you have a four-wire cable, you can do it
the hard way like we did and solder the wire next to the red wire to connector
1 and the outside wire to connector 8; then clip the other middle wire and
leave it unsoldered. Or you can simplify things by pulling the outside wire off
the cable, leaving a three-wire cable.
