Position the black connector onto the circuit board. The black pins on the
connector should fit into the notches on the circuit board. The connection
should be just snug enough to keep the two parts together, as shown here:

Solder pins 1, 4, and 8 to the circuit board, as shown next. (Thinking about
soldering the other connections? Don’t. They won’t be used, and soldering
them simply increases the chances of creating a short circuit among the pins
that are used.)
