the board. Ensure that you plug the housing into the pins so that the ground
wire (the wire with the red stripe) plugs into the ground pin. Most of the ca-
bles from Acroname come preassembled. One exception is the cable for the
Handspring Visor. Instructions on how to assemble this connector are in
Chapter 4.
What’s Next?
Your robot may not be complete, depending on which model you have and
what you are using as the brains of the robot.
If you are using the Palm III or Palm V kits, or the BrainStem kit with any-
thing other than a Handspring Visor, you are ready to start playing with your
robot. You can skip Chapter 4 and move straight to Chapter 5. In Chapter 5,
we’ll show you where to get software for your robot, and how to use the soft-
ware with your robot. If you want to do your own programming, go to Chap-
ter 6 to see how to use the Palm Robot Programmer, or Chapters 5, 7, or 8 to see
how to program the Robot using C/C++, BASIC, or Java.
If you are using the BrainStem kit and a Handspring Visor, or the PPRK
with a Palm VII, you still have some work to do. Proceed to Chapter 4 to see
how to do this, then Chapter 5 to get software for your robot; Chapter 6 to
learn how to use the Palm Robot Programmer; or Chapters 5, 7, or 8 to learn
how to program the Robot using C/C++, BASIC, or Java.
