to operate. If the servo rotates when you first turn on the robot and no pro-
gram is running, the servo is no longer centered. Click the Config button to
display the Servo Configuration dialog box shown here. By moving the Offset
slider, you can adjust the servo so that it is centered.
The Console
Unique versions of the Acroname Console program can be used for a number
of different platforms. This program lets you compile, load, and launch pro-
grams for the BrainStem. The programs are written in a special language
called TEA, which stands for Tiny Embedded Applications. If you want to
write programs in C/C++, Java, or BASIC, you will not need the Console pro-
gram. We will look at programming in those languages in Chapter 7.
To install the Console application to your Palm OS device, locate these files,
which need to be loaded to the PDA:
❏ console.prc
❏ aIO.pdb
❏ aLeaf.pdb
❏ aSteep.pdb
❏ aSteepGen.pdb
❏ aSteepOpt.pdb
❏ aStem.pdb
❏ aTEAvm.pdb
❏ aUI.pdb
NOTE: Some of these .pdb files are used by other applications. If you’ve
already installed one of the .pdb files for the Config or GPapplications, you do
not need to reinstall it. Also, if you download a later version of Console from
Acroname, install all the .pdb files that come with it regardless of whether or
not they are listed here.
After all the files have been loaded, start the Console application by tap-
ping the Console icon in the Application Launcher. For the Windows or Mac
