                                      The application needs to make a connection to the BrainStem controller to
                                    work properly. For the two devices to connect properly, you must start the GP
                                    application first. After it is running, turn on the PPRK. The two LEDs on the
                                    BrainStem controller will light up, and within a few seconds, the green light
                                    on the BrainStem will start a rhythmic beat, known as the heartbeat. The GP ap-
                                    plication has a similar icon that will flash in sync with the heartbeat. This indi-
                                    cates that the application and the BrainStem are communicating.














                                    Checking the Analog Ports
                                    When you start the application, you will see four tabbed panes labeled Ana-
                                    log, Digital, GP2D02, and Servo. The application starts at the first tab. If you
