Chapter 5 Checking Out the Robot 103

For this chapter, the only file you need is the PPRK SDK file for your plat-
form. For example, if you are using a Palm OS device and a Windows PC, you
will download the BrainStem PPRK SDK for the target platform Palm OS and
the download platform Win32. This is important! Getting the two platforms
correct is vital. For example, if you download the Palm OS PPRK SDK for the
Mac OS X and you have a Windows machine, the software will not work.
Some computers have even been known to go on strike if you try to give them
the wrong software.

The PPRK SDK contains most of the files you need to work with the robot.
However, we will be using some of the other files later in the book, so you can
download and install those programs now if you wish. The other files you
may want are listed here:
❏ BrainStem Java Access This is used for programming the robot
using the Java programming language.
❏ BrainStem C Development This is used for programming the
robot using the C programming language.
❏ BrainStem Reference Here is documentation for using and
programming the BrainStem controller.

❏ BrainStem SDK This contains everything except the BrainStem
Java Access files and the BrainStem reference files.
