Obviously, if the servos don’t rotate when you select a radio button, or if the
graphical display doesn’t change when an object is in front of a sensor, you
have a problem with your robot. Here are some troubleshooting tips for your
                               robot:

❏ Check that you have wired the connections between the sensors
                                       and the BrainStem correctly.
❏ Check that you have wired the connections between the servos
                                       and the BrainStem correctly.
❏ Check that the cable between the BrainStem and the host PDA
                                       or PC is securely connected.
❏ Check that the power connections are correct.
❏ Ensure the switch is in the on position.
❏ Ensure the batteries are good.

                    GP
GP is a general purpose program for testing the BrainStem controller. Using
the GP application, you can see the output from each of the five analog ports,
test the input and output from each of the five digital ports, and test and con-
figure any of four servos that could be attached to the BrainStem. Since the
PPRK has only three servos, you will use only three of the four in the GP appli-
                               cation.
To install the GP application to your Palm OS device, locate the following
files. All four of these files need to be loaded to the PDA:
                                   ❏ GP.prc
                                   ❏ aIO.pdb

                                   ❏ aStem.pdb
                                   ❏ aUI.pdb

NOTE: These .pdb files are the same files used by other BrainStem
applications. If you’ve already installed the .pdb files for the Config
application, you do not need to install them again.
Once all four files have been loaded, start the GPapplication by tapping the
GP icon on the Palm’s Application Launcher screen (see Figure 5-3). For the
Windows or Mac version of the application, launch the GP executable from
the \aBinary directory (see Figure 5-4). While the GP application is running,
neither of the other applications, Config or Console, can be running.
