drawings, specifications, and other construction documents have been
provided.

3. Review all the notes on the drawings.
• Look for special requirements
• Look for special testing
• Be aware of municipal and state special requirements
• Be familiar with the local codes
• Be familiar with the state’s energy code
4. Read the specifications.
• Cross-check against the drawings for more complete information
• Make sure there is consistency with the drawings
• Look for special requirements (i.e., testing, factory visits, etc.)
• Look for attic stock requirements (to provide extra material at the end of the
project)
• List all warranties and guarantees spelled out in the construction documents
• Determine if maintenance is required for any equipment and if it is part of the
requirements of the project
5. Preliminary coordination review
• Look for “obvious hits” (conflicts with other construction items)
• Determine if the equipment shown can fit into the areas provided
